SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT
All coaches in rugby follow the highest standards when it comes to teaching and reinforcing player’s safety. Rugby is a contact sport that involveS tackling. We focus on techniques that take the “head” out of the game by teaching children the importance of using the shoulder as the point of contact and to wrestle the ball carrier to the ground in place of hitting.
Below is a link to a video produced by the Super Bowl Champions, the Seattle Seahawks. Narrated by Coach Peter Carroll, it introduces players on how to shoulder tackle “inspired” by “rugby” techniques to teach safe yet effective tackling.
At Spartan Army Youth Rugby, we teach children that the only time to use their heads is when they outsmart their opponents on the pitch.
